It's a great time of year to check off some household maintenance items and prepare for the season and prevent costly repairs later.
Inspect your gutters and downspouts. Remove any debris that has accumulated through the winter and make sure there are no signs of damage to the gutters.
Examine roof shingles and the exterior of the chimney for damage that may have occurred during the winter. Have the chimney flue cleaned and roof repaired by a professional.
Prepare for the warmer weather by scheduling an air conditioner spring cleaning. And don’t forget to change your filters monthly!
Turn on your outside water spigots and test to make sure you have good water flow. Listen inside for any water leaks.
Clean and prepare your outdoor living space for the season. Pressure wash the area and stain and seal your wood deck to make it last longer.
De-clutter your garage/shed and make sure all chemicals are out of children’s reach.
Make sure it’s safe to swing. Check kids’ outdoor play structures and tighten bolts if needed. Avoid splinters by looking for splitting wood.
Visit the attic to confirm there are no signs of leaks.
Trim the trees. We tend to have strong winds in the spring and summer and loose tree branches can really do some damage to your home and injure others.
